Rostam Onsori is the editor of the Central Asian Analytical Digest (Zentralasien-Analysen), together with Richard Schmidt. He is a master's degree student of Central Asian Studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Before, he studied at the University of Leipzig and the University of Halle-Wittenberg where he graduated in Geography and Anthropology. His main research interest is the post-Soviet transformation of the Tajik Pamirs with regards to the local communities' global self-positioning. Since 2014, he stayed annually in Central Asia, mostly in the Pamir region, where he conducted fieldwork in the remote Bartang Valley. Before joining ZOiS in January 2020, he worked as an interpreter for Persian languages, including Tajik.
