The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) is seeking to fill the position of

Editor for English-language publications

at the earliest convenience. This is a permanent position comprising 50 % of the collectively agreed working hours (19.5 hours/ week) according to TVöD 13 (Collective Agreement for the Public Service).

The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) is an independent, international and interdisciplinary research institute. It focuses on socially relevant academic research on Eastern Europe and shares the results with policy-makers, the media and the broader public.  

Your academic responsibilities

►    Assisting researchers in the preparation of English-language academic publications
►    Conducting ZOiS internal writing workshops

Your responsibilities in communication

►    Editing and correcting of internally written short pieces (website, press releases, newsletter)
►    Editing of “ZOiS Spotlight”
►    Editing of “ZOiS Report”
►    Editing of the annual report
►    Editing of internal regulations


►    Completed academic university degree (master’s degree or similar) in a field of study suitable for the position, preferably including personal experience in research and project management
►    Native speaker of English with excellent written and spoken language skills. Knowledge of German is desirable.
►    Experience in academic publishing, gained e.g. with a scientific journal or an academic publishing company
