Research Assistant

The Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) is an independent, international and interdisciplinary research institute. It focuses on foundational and policy relevant academic research on Eastern Europe and shares the results with policy-makers, the media and the broader public.

The Centre for East European and International Studies seeks to appoint a Research Assistant

The advertised position is part of the project MOBILISE: Determinants of ‘Mobilisation’ at Home & Abroad: Analysing the Micro-Foundations of Out-Migration & Mass Protest led by Prof. Dr. Gwendolyn Sasse with qualitative research coordinated by Dr. Piotr Goldstein.

Tasks:

► Support with the coding and analysis of qualitative data (interviews and focus group interviews with Polish people in Poland and abroad)
► Checking and, if necessary, correcting already available translations (Polish to English)

Requirements:

► Native-level fluency in Polish and fluency in English (spoken and written) essential
► Master students (in particular political science, sociology, social anthropology or other social sciences)
► Knowledge of qualitative data analysis software (ideally atlas.ti)
► Interest in East European politics and/or migration and/or protest
► At least general understanding of current political situation in Poland
► Knowledge of Spanish will be an advantage
► Capacity for independent, precise and reliable work

Working hours are 37h per months on a € 450 employment basis. The position is initially limited to 12 month. A continuation thereafter is possible.
